Get Out of Your Way | The Ebook is Out!

My first ebook Get Out of Your Way: Make 2017 The Best Year of Your Life is officially out.

I’m so excited.

I’m excited because this time last year, the only things I had written were college essays and emails.

I’m excited because I can’t think of a more intrinsically-motivating project. I loved every bit of this. I loved working with iPEC. I loved taking photos of Kwame and James, and getting gorgeous photos from my photographer friends of Ayla and Nicole and Anna and Olav and Peg and Bendik and Forrest (thanks Syvonne, Christian, Adam, and others). I loved getting edits from my parents and Chelsea. I loved rapid collabs with Michael. I love working this way. I love that work can be like this.

And most importantly…

I’m excited because I know how useful this information can be for people. One of my biggest, longest paranoias has been that I’m not getting the most out of myself.  That somehow I’m missing out on the life I could be living. This is also certainly the most common complaint I hear from my friends:

“I’m just bored with my life. I don’t feel like I’m doing what I’m here to do.”

“I feel like I’m only doing a fraction of what I’m capable of.”

“I want to step it up. I want to make an impact. I want to live a life I’m proud of.”

“I feel stuck. I know what I want to do but I can’t get myself to do it. I don’t know why.”

Sound familiar at all?

I’ve become committed to cracking this code. What’s the deal? Why are so many of us unsatisfied with the lives we’re living? What’s the difference between our current selves and our best selves?

I’ve experimented on myself over the last 10 years or so and I’ve learned a ton. The distance I perceive between my current self and my best self is now tiny compared to even a year ago. The more I learn, the more of an urgency I feel to share what I’m learning. This stuff is important. Almost everyone I know is looking to get more out of themselves; to live a life they love; to reach their potential.

And here’s where they usually go wrong (it’s where I went wrong too):

They work harder. They acquire more stuff. They make themselves look better. They gather more information. They reach further. They strategize more. They try harder.

In essence, they do more.

What I’ve been discovering is that doing more is distracting.

Reaching your potential and loving your life has way less to do with achieving anything and way more to do with removing the debris, dropping the pretense and getting out of your way.

So in this 30-page ebook I’ve plucked out some of the richest insights that have made a difference for me. The 9 chapters each contain some of the best things I know about how to get out of your way.

My belief (and intention) is that if you integrate what you read in Get Out of Your Way, you really will make 2017 the best year of your life.

Download it at Enjoy it. Share it. Tell me what you thought. ❤

Shout out to the very chill girl sitting next to me at Wonder who let me borrow her phone to take that pic of my phone. Before I finished my request she said “Knock yourself out my password is 9333.”

Side note: I’ve been listening to the best playlist I’ve ever made the last few days, called Big Vibe | Winter 2017. If you wanna get the full experience and won’t be distracted by the grooviness, listen to it on Spotify as you read.
